We’ve evolved the vision for this 24-hectare site by putting local people’s well-being and the protection of the environment at the heart of it all. The new community hub will transform Colchester’s Northern Gateway by creating an inspiring place to live, work and play.
Neighbourhood Connections
The 350-home neighbourhood is carefully stitched into its surroundings with a tree-lined boulevard spanning the site, linking new roads, footpaths and cycle routes that connect the district with the wider area. Alongside a new healthcare campus, there’s a 75-bed care home, a community centre and 500,000 square feet of office and commercial space, plus plenty of shops and restaurants.
Greener Living
Sustainability is at the heart of the new community with a carbon-cutting, renewable heat network supplying homes and businesses with heating and hot water. There are also bio-retention ponds to manage surface water and rainfall runoff and extensive planting to support and encourage biodiversity. We’ve also planned for plenty of communal green spaces where people can come together to relax and play.
