Leslie Jones makes shortlist for Bedlington competition

Leslie Jones Architecture has been shortlisted for a design competition to redevelop a 2.25 hectare plot in Bedlington town centre, Northumberland.

Leslie Jones is now up against only four other firms to win the project to provide Bedlington with a visionary design leader who will produce a deliverable plan for the site, which Tesco vacated in April and Arch purchased in July. The competition was set up to give momentum to Bedlington’s ambitions for regeneration while ensuring that local people could have a strong influence on the outcome. Leslie Jones will now develop design proposals to present at a public event next year.

Brian Tracey, Director at Leslie Jones Architecture commented: “Bedlington is recognised in the emerging Northumberland core strategy as one of the county’s main towns, proving resilient during the economic downturn. It is exciting to be considered towards the town’s future growth plans and we are confident we could produce an innovative, yet commercially sensitive design to this regeneration project.”
