We’re thrilled to announce planning has been approved for Modern Surf, the new £60m surf leisure destination coming to TraffordCity.

Riding the wave of surfing as a new Olympic sport, Modern Surf transforms an abandoned industrial site to deliver the North West’s first inland surfing venue. Designed with health and wellbeing at its heart, the new leisure destination is a place where people can get outside, connect with nature and each other, and have a great time.

Powered by Wavegarden, the world leader in artificial, wave-generating technologies, the two-hectare lagoon is surrounded by a cluster of buildings offering a surf academy, changing areas, as well as a clubhouse with bar, restaurant, shop and viewing terraces.

We’ve also designed a generous interactive landscape perfect for getting active and relaxing to enhance the destination’s health benefits. Visitors can enjoy unique competition-level spaces for skateboarding and bouldering.

Modern Surf is on track to open in 2023.
