Leslie Jones Architecture had a fantastic day participating in the  Elifar challenge. Elifar is a registered charity which helps to improve the lives of children and adults with severe learning difficulties, and the challenge – now in its 25th year –  is a day of mental and physically activities to raise awareness around the daily adversities faced by many with disabilities in the UK.

James, Stephanie, Alyssa, Anna, Christopher, Ania and Joe found the event, which brings together teams from throughout the retail property industry sector, thoroughly rewarding!

The  Elifar Challenge was a fantastic day out! I especially enjoyed playing ultimate frisbee and volleyball with the team. More importantly, it was all in support of a brilliant cause.  Elifar does incredible work supporting people with disabilities and their families. As accessibility and inclusivity become ever more integral to architecture and design, it was a meaningful opportunity to help raise both funds and awareness for  Elifar’s mission.

We stepped away from our desks and into a day full of laughs, teamwork, and friendly competition at the Ellifar Challenge. From testing our general knowledge and solving brain-bending puzzles to tossing frisbees and playing volleyball. Landing in 11th place felt like a win, but the real reward was supporting a good cause of supporting the families in need. I think the entire team had a great fun and is excited to take part in this challenge again next year.

Taking part in the Ellifar Challenge 2025 was an unforgettable experience. It pushed me out of my comfort zone — at times it was tough, a bit nerve-wracking, but the energy and team spirit throughout the day made it so rewarding. I even surprised myself on the “Wipe-Out” challenge (turns out I can tuck jump!). It was all in support of a brilliant cause, surrounded by great people, and I’d love the chance to do it all again next year. I will be practicing my frisbee skills in the meantime…

(We should also be note that Stephanie won the Louisa Cawood Award for most determined female!)

Elifar provides grants for a variety of items including electronic wheelchairs, specialised seating, eating aids, special beds and trikes, hoists, communication devices and sensory equipment. The intense challenge of daily management at home usually means that a grant will enhance life for the rest of the family too.

The foundation relies entirely on independent donations and fundraising, and enjoys the support of many individuals and companies, and as mentioned above, particularly within the UK retail property industry.  Leslie Jones Architecture are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile cause!
