Following strong public feedback, we’ve submitted planning for Modern Surf, a new £60m new surf leisure destination at TraffordCity in Manchester.

Working alongside developers McKinney Group, engineers Hydrock and landscape specialists Exterior Architecture, we’ve transformed this brownfield site to deliver a world-class leisure destination emphasising health and wellbeing.

Powered by Wavegarden, the world leader in artificial, wave-generating technologies, the facility will generate 1,000 waves an hour – suitable for surfers of all ages and abilities. The two-hectare lagoon is surrounded by a cluster of buildings, including changing areas, as well as a clubhouse with a bar, restaurant, shop and viewing terraces.

The world-class visitor attraction and sustainable development will create a real economic impact and jobs and add to the city’s compelling recreational offer as a great place to live, visit, and work.

If all goes to plan, Modern Surf will open in 2023.
