Gold for Eldon Square

There was a celebration for Leslie Jones Architecture last night following intu Eldon Square in Newcastle scooping a coveted BCSC Gold Award.

The 1.4 million sq ft centre won in the refurbishment and extensions over £5 million category for its recent programme of modernisation, which was designed and delivered by Leslie Jones. The accolade was the second BCSC Gold Award in two years for a Leslie Jones designed project following Old Market in Hereford winning New Centre of the Year in 2014.

Developing the design on from the ‘Roundel motif’, which characterises the previous extension also designed by Leslie Jones, the firm has delivered a dynamic new interior which unifies the complete scheme.

James Cons, Managing Director at Leslie Jones Architecture said: “This award reflects the hard work and creativity required to deliver the complete transformation of Eldon Square, our team are immensely proud to have been involved in this challenging project. The striking interior design and new entrance contribute positively to Newcastle’s evolving city centre.”
