2015: A year of regionalisation

As we look back on the last year the topic that seems to have dominated is the regions, with the continued emphasis on devolution particularly the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ and ‘Midlands Engine’.

The trend for regionalisation is not just evident in the UK, but is fast gathering pace across the continent with further investment being brought forward into elevating the capacity of regional cities – setting us on course to become a Europe of Cities, rather than a Europe of Capitals, where power and economy is more evenly dispersed.

We have therefore taken our expertise in delivering city centre regeneration to Europe, where we have both internationalised retail destinations, yet remained sympathetic to local heritage and architecture. Expobel shopping centre in Minsk is one such example, where we have delivered the concept designs and masterplan that have quadrupled the size of the scheme to 1.2 million sq ft, ensuring it realises its full potential and can reflect Minsk’s growing reputation in Europe.

With more regional retail-led schemes in planning and coming to fruition next year, this trend looks set to continue well into 2016.

Thank you for your continued support over the past 12 months and we look forward to working with you in the New Year!
