The advocacy of context and the delivery of high quality urban design is at the heart of all projects. The Urban Agenda set by CABE, requires each project to be clearly legible in delivering key principles of enclosure of space, permeability and mixed use in new developments. The real skill is in advocating these principles against the sound commercial planning of occupiers' requirements and delivering real value and returns which enable the project and stimulate further economic growth and regeneration.

Delivering successful masterplans is the key to moving forward with the delivery of successful projects. The ability to create and communicate a vision is at the heart of the design process that creates a momentum of enthusiasm within clear economic and planning contexts.

Whilst a successful retail strategy is essential to the delivery of masterplans, it is equally important to recognise a range of measures in addition to the retail strategy - complementary measures - to make the desired step change:

  • A complementary leisure and evening economy strategy
  • A residential strategy
  • A transport and car parking strategy
  • Investment in the public realm
  • Investment in Town Centre Management
  • Consideration of the opportunities of Business Improvement Districts
